Dr. Rachel Canella is currently a pre-licensed clinical psychologist who is pursuing her licensure with the state of Pennsylvania. Dr. Canella graduated from La Salle University’s APA-Accredited Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program specializing in the child-clinical concentration, and previously graduated from Loyola University Maryland’s Accelerated B.A./M.S. Program in Clinical Psychology. She completed her doctoral internship in the Pediatric Psychology Clinic and Consultation Program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine/Kennedy Krieger Institute, and she will be completing her Pediatric Psychology Fellowship at Nemours Children’s Hospital.
Clinically, Dr. Canella has extensive training in academic medical settings, where she has provided evidence-based psychotherapy, consultation, and assessments to youth and young adults with complex medical needs and co-occurring behavioral and psychological concerns. Central to her practice is an emphasis on patient- and family-centered care, delivering high-quality psychological services to underserved and vulnerable populations, and providing caregiver consultation and support.
Dr. Canella’s research interests focus on understanding caregiver perspectives for program development and quality improvement across healthcare settings, as well as developing novel clinician tools to enhance the dissemination and implementation of evidence-based treatments for youth within non-specialty settings. Dr. Canella has presented research and engaged in leadership roles at both local and national levels. She is an active member of Division 53 (Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology) and Division 54 (Society of Pediatric Psychology) of the American Psychological Association.
